[Here's a kid walking out onto the Astral Plane. He is short and has white hair and is very, very excited. He wearing a purple hat that looks vaguely like a rabbit, a faded black cape, and manacles on his wrists connected by a length of chain. Did I mention he's excited?]

[Oliver is watching Shiro, both confused and amused by his antics. he laughs when Shiro starts yelling to the stars]

[And then he looks up and realizes who started talking to him.]

Oh, wow! A person! That's awesome! Where'd you come from?

[he snorts] Maybe.

[but he starts laughing at Shiro's excitement] I was here before you! I take it this is your first time on the Plane?

You were? Wow! I didn't even see you! That's so cool!

And I think so, yeah, but what's a 'plane'? There was some guy who said something about 'planes' too, and then he handed me something, and I ate it.

Well, you did just get here... [is this what it's like to have your own enthusiasm turned around on you? Oliver wonders if he sounds like that when he meets new Time Lords or legendary figures]

This place is the Astral Plane. It's...like a place where a bunch of universes meet. [he figures he should keep things in simple terms for the kid]

[Oliver does not automatically equate eating things with the brochure, so he's going to assume the logical explanation] You're hungry, huh? There's a kitchen here. We could go there and I could tell you about this place, if you want.

Wow. You sound really smart! I don't even know what a yoo-nee-verse is, but lots of them meet here? Wowwww. [sob sob his brain. how does it work.]

Yeah, Shiro is always hungry, but I've got to bring back food for everyone else too. Let's go eat a 'kitchen'!

[so much for a simple explanation...] Oh, uh, that's...basically, a whole group of worlds. So lots of universes is lots of groups of worlds that are all different. Like, where you're from is probably really different from where I'm from. See? [his tone is hopeful. he's not sure how much more descriptive he can get]

[Oliver snorts again, assuming Shiro just misspoke there] Okay, it's over this way! [he gestures, starting off in the general direction of the kitchen] So what's your name? [because he totally didn't realise Shiro's third person was third person] I'm Oliver, by the way.

Haha, I have no idea what you just said! [He laughs.] You really are smart. Where do you come from?

Wow, Oliver's your name? That sounds cool. What's it mean?

[he scratches his head, sheepish] I'm really nobody special. But I'm from Birmingham! On Earth. Where're you from?

Uh...I think it has to do with olive trees. But what's your name?
