[Oliver is in the kitchen, putting the finishing touches of chocolate frosting on a round white cake. he also seems to have put quite a bit of frosting on his face, hands, and shirt--as well as some flour and other ingredients. cooking is not his strongest point. but he licks his finger and, after a second's consideration, seems satisfied]

Yeah! [Oliver turns to Mu with a grin] Want some? I could make some tea, too. Or milk. Milk's good with cake.

[lamb_of_gold]

No thank you to the cake, but I will take up your offer for tea. What's the occasion?

[Eye contact will reveal Mu is worried about something, but he's doing a good job of hiding it]

[oliverplus]

[Oliver feels that, and his expression slips for a moment, but he quickly smiles again] The Doctor saved the country! And, um. Me. So I'm celebrating!

[he fills a pot of water and puts it on the range to boil. then, trying to sound casual:] What about you, Mu? How is everything?

As worthy a reason as any. Dare I ask what from?

I am well enough

[oliverplus]

Some sort of alien that wanted to suck out people's brains.

[while he waits for the water to boil, he moves back over to join Mu] Yeah? How are the trainees doing?

[lamb_of_gold]

...Inventive, if unplesant.

Well. I've begun to graduate the eldest among them.

[oliverplus]

Yeah, it was...um...taking all the electrical energy. I guess.

[surprised] Yeah? That sounds exciting! Congrats to your students, Mu.

[lamb_of_gold]

...Points for creativity and effort, at the very least.

I will pass the sentiments along. A few more and I can divvy the remaining trainees between them, then search out more.

[Oliver makes a face. he isn't giving that thing points for anything after what it did to him]

Well, that sounds like good news! [after Mu's original response, though, he's still suspicious] But what's the catch?

[lamb_of_gold]

Ah, you sounded like something's wrong. [and Oliver felt it, too, but he doesn't like to sound like he was prying]

Ah, did I? I didn't mean to worry you, it's only a small matter.

[Which is taking up a lot of his emotional energy.]

[which is why Oliver won't let it go. he leans in a little, trying to sound casual despite his insistence] What's wrong?

[A sigh] Shion has been out of sorts, lately. I simpy hope it's nothing serious.

[oliverplus]

[Oliver frowns] You think something's wrong? [something that he hasn't told Mu. now that doesn't sound like a good sign]
