[For once, the cheerful smile that normally adorns Aster's face is nowhere to be seen. Might be because he was recently killed, by the same person or it might be because he's currently leaning back in a chair, foot pressed against a nearby table with an open notebook covering his face. He is sans lab coat today. It's laying over the table and his

Richter walks onto the plane, muttering quietly to himself. He'd just spent what felt like trying to press the Centurions for information about Ratatosk that he didn't already know to no avail. The other Centurions quickly drowned out (ha) anything that Aqua had to say. Clearly, they weren't keen on letting someone who had been trying to kill their master know anymore than absolutely necessary but whenever Tenebrae got involved in these sorts of things... It just spiraled into such an unnecessary headache that Richter had given up and returned to the plane's library to do some research on his own.
He stalks right past Aster initially, so caught up in his own thoughts and trying to get the sound of the Centurions' bickering out of his head. He's gone for a good few minutes before picking up on someone using magic in the library- Wait, when did Aster get here?]
... I think I prefer you sitting on the floor to you sitting on top of the bookshelves.
[but he's not looking at Aster, he's looking around ( ... )

Did he do the first aid?
No, that was definitely his own doing. Richter gets a blank stare from Aster before he points at his own arm.]
That...
[Here it comes.]

[Suddenly, excitement! He's eagerly standing up to show you his arm. Fascinating, isn't it? All his energy was saved up for this one moment it seems.]
Wow, incredible! Here, let me see you. Do you have an injury?
[Wait, then the smile wanes. His bff shouldn't be hurt at all.]
You shouldn't have an injury, but in case you do, I need to experiment!

What's incredible?
[The half-elf is plainly confused by the blond's antics] Aster, slow down. What do you mean 'experiment'? I'm not hurt.
[except he was and despite his original plan of going back to the Ginnungagap to recover and gather information, Richter managed to do precisely none of those. There are a few cuts on his arms from the fight earlier and he has a limp but other than that plus all the older, more or less healed injuries Richter was in tiptop shape]

[It sure is a good thing Aster takes liberties with his friend's personal space then, especially in the state he's in. He should really be writing things down. The time, the day, the event, how it felt, and-
He was in the middle of circling Richter for injuries when he reminds himself about that. Back to where the fallen chair is, he picks up his notebook and rummages around his lab coat for a pencil.]
Small injury...healed quickly.
[Here's where the scribbling starts and just to be sure, Aster leans down to check Richter's hands intently. Maybe searching for some paper cuts, even attempting to push back the sleeve to check further. ]
Hm.

Slow down. You'll have to give me a bit more that two words per sentence if you want me to understand what you're talking about.

[At least there's an answer. He spots the blood and worries. Richter had said he was uninjured, but there it is. It's important for him to convey what he wants to do clearly, so he takes a breath. Calm down, Aster. Calm yo'self. ]
It seems I've gained the ability to use healing artes, Richter. Give me your arm and I'll show you!
Reply
[stop, then a mix of emotions before he settles on looking a 'little peeved'] What do you mean--
Aster, humans don't just spontaneously develop the ability to use healing artes. You know this, I know this, so what are you going on about?
[but he hasn't rolled down the sleeve Aster pushed up yet. The way he's acting about it, you might just think those cuts on his arms were no more than papercuts to him, rather than something that would need treatment to prevent from scarring]

[Let's see if he can manage to do this again. Before, Aster had really tried to imitate Richter. He concentrated on the spot, thought about it, as though the pretend first aid would actually help. Turns out it did. Funny how the plane works. He's certain his previous death is to blame for this new found power not that he'll mention that Richter. Before he can conclude the permanence of it, he has to test it again and again.
Aster reaches to grab Richter's hand tightly, staring down at the many wounds on his arm. He can definitely help his friend.]
I realize it's difficult to believe, but I can prove it with this quick experiment.

Again]
... All right. You win. [he takes off his coat and - oh wow, those were a few more cuts than he originally thought dammit Ratatosk - and rolls up his sleeve] Let's see these healing artes you're talking about.

Aster's concern takes over his initial excitement.]
Okay.
[Aster gently presses his palm against one of the many cuts on his arm. He concentrates, much like he did earlier while pretending to be Richter. Sure enough, the same thing happens.]
First aid!
[WASN'T THAT COOL? Doing that a second time left him feeling more exhausted however. It's his first time doing this and he tried it two times in a row.]

[Richter watches, completely unconvinced for the time being. Unconvinced up until the point where he feels that familiar sensation of mana moving and- And Aster actually used First Aid. His surprise lasts for a total of five seconds before the situation hits him like a ton of bricks]
You- [with his free hand, Richter reaches up to grip Aster's wrist. His tone has gone from slightly exasperated to surprised to dead (ha) serious] Don't think about healing anymore. You'll exhaust yourself if you keep this up.
[a myriad of questions are flying through Richter's head at top speed bordering on the edge of panic because why? Why and how and what in the worlds was happening here? There were too many questions he wanted to ask and not enough time to gather all the information he needed or get the answers he wanted... Somehow, this didn't feel at all surprising (could one be conditioned to disappointment? Probably)]

[Aster doesn't need to be told twice. He feels like one more time will require an immediate nap right after. Richter's tone isn't that surprising. It's bound to be confusing. He won't go into details, however Aster does feel like he owes the man something. There's the question of all those injuries on his arm too.]
My first attempt was seconds before you came in. I'm not entirely sure why I gained that ability in particular.
Reply
[a sigh before he crosses his arms with a slight wince] I have a couple of theories as to why you might have gotten First Aid over something like Photon.
[... is that seriously what Richter associates with Aster? Light spells?]
And I can heal myself. Besides... If I let you do it, we'll be here all week.
[another pause] How tired do you feel?
Reply
You do? Why do you think so?
[That's endearing. Aster likes the idea of healing artes over light spells. He can help treat the wounds of others and his own. It's too bad he couldn't manage to heal Richter's arm right now.]
H-Hey. It would be less than a week. [Maybe six days.] I'm sure I'll get the hang of it with practice and time.
[At the last question, Aster smiles. ]
Not tired enough to fall asleep in the middle of our conversation.

Did you want me to narrow it down to days, hours and seconds? [but he doesn't bother healing any of his cuts right away. He didn't want to make Aster feel worse about his inexperience with magic any more than he already did... It might just end up spawning some Very Bad Ideas in that so-called genius head]
As for the spells... [he drops his hands to his side and looks up and away. Hiding his face?] You're not the sort of person who would be at the fore front of a fight. At least, it suits you more...
[a quiet cough] Technically, most half-elves can learn spells of other elements if they decide to put their mind to it. Most don't try and learn anything other than the basic Fireball spell though.
[not when just that simple spell alone could cause them so much grief]
