[It's not at all strange to find people in the library. In fact, it might be the most normal, mundane activity a character can do. Aster is one of the people who enjoys sitting and reading for hours on end, researching every little thing he can get his hands on.

So it's not at all strange to find piles of books, nearly resembling a fort, in an ( Read more... )

[Stares right back down. Also, he waves. Isn't that nice?]

Hello, Marta. Don't worry. As long as I don't move too much, I don't believe I'll fall.

[Marta waves back, half-heartedly... she's a little more worried about him falling. djafkls]

Okay... Well, do you want help down? Or were you just going to stay up there with all of those books?

Okay. I'll be right back! [And, off she goes~

... and she returns a minute or so later, with a short ladder. It only reaches about halfway up, but it definitely lessens the drop, right? she leans it against the bookshelf and steps back.]

There! It was all I could find right now. Should I look again?

It's alright. This should work.

[How will it work? Aster isn't sure yet. This can't be any different than climbing ledges though. They sure had done enough climbing on their journey to Ratatosk. The real problem comes with his books. How is he going to get all ten down to safety? That realization is what causes the very long bout of silence that follows. Aster stares at the books instead of climbing down the ladder.]

Hm...

[Marta looks from Aster, to the books, back to Aster, back to the books... She shakes her head.]

Hey, I'll come up the ladder and you can hand the books down to me one or two at a time! I can put them on that table over there, and we'll keep at it until they're all down here! It's better than throwing them, right?

[Yes, Marta, you are a godsend. It would be so much better than throwing them. Aster smiles cheerfully and picks up the first book.]

Yes, it would. Thank you, Marta. I appreciate you doing that.

Of course! [And up the ladder she goes, with a smile. She holds her arm out, ready to take the first book.]

So, what are you reading about, Aster? That's a lot of books.

[And there he goes, handing them over to her.]

Various things. Whatever I can get my hands on. Mostly energy types and different uses for them.

[And as they come, she carefully takes them and puts them down on the floor.]

Oh! I bet there are a bunch of different kinds, with all of the worlds this place brings together.

[Finally someone who understands!]

There are! Quite a few actually. It's truly fascinating. I'm wondering if certain types would work in our world actually.

[Though it would be hard to test, if not impossible, since their world runs on mana and from summon spirits as well, once upon a time.]
