001 - A Bad Day For Everyone

[Misaki Kirihara appears on the plane looking very, very pissed. Her Sig P230 is unholstered and leveled at…

…no one.]

Tch.

[She lowers the weapon, very slightly, taking in her surroundings. Or rather, the lack thereof.]

Contractor!

[She turns in a slow circle, tension wrapped around her like a creaking spring.]Contractor! Show yourself. You ( Read more... )

More and More....

You speak of Contractors. Do you know Li?

I do. I did. [She lowers her weapon. She's really starting to think that this isn't a contractor's work, startling enough on its own. The talk is so casual... so mundane.]

You... know him?

I count him among my friends, as a matter of fact.

You can rest assured that this is not the work of a Contractor, but is, in fact, quite real.

[She startles back.]

You know about Contractors. Are you...?

I know very little - I've pieced a few things together, and that is all.

[She holsters her weapon, her guard coming back up, though not with its previous ferocity.]

I see. And has... Li told you these things?

He originally thought I was a Contractor, which granted me a fairly good idea of what they are. The term "monster" comes up a fair bit as well.

He would think that...

[She closes her eyes briefly, trying to ward of the pounding headache developing just above her ears. What she really wants, right now, is a cheese burger.]

If you aren't one of them, how did you read my mind? That is what you did, I presume? Are you a failed Doll? Please excuse the rude phrasing--I can think of no other way to put it.

I am hardly a doll, Madame. Telepathy is simply something I was born with.

My apologies. [Feels a twinge of old-lady at the word 'Madame.']

Ah--I'm Misaki Kirihara. You were born with it? That's certainly... [She searches around for the right word] unique. [Fail.]

I am Mu. It is a pleasure to meet you, Miss Kirihara.

It may seem such to you, but it is a common trait to my people.

I see. [The poor girl is really at a loss. She rubs her eyes with the tips of her fingers, then moves on to massage her temples.]

May I ask where you are from, then, and how you got here--and more importantly, can either of us get back?

There's a hammock set up not far from here. If your head gets worse, feel free to lie down.

I am from Athens, Greece in the year 1986. It's quite possible to return to wherever you were. It requires only a tho-*Poof*

Ah.

[She sits where she is, cross-legged, and gives him a wearied sort of smile.]

Then if you will excuse me for a moment.

[Vanish! And then, moments later, Reappear! This time with a table and chairs in tow. She's sitting in one of the chairs and looking a bit surprised.]

It worked. That was somewhat unexpected.

Objects can be brought too and from our homes at will. People, strangely, cannot.

[She props her chin in her hand, resigned to believing all of this is a very strange dream or that she's completely lost it. She checks her thoughts, glancing at Mu.]

Does it get... difficult, dealing with telepathy?

[She traces constellations with her gaze] It's too bad... I can think of some people who would love this. This.

[she sits back in her chair.] You'll forgive me, I hope, if I don't immediately accept all of this--or even you--as real.
