[Immediately going into Nurse mode, Christine rushes over to him.] Stay calm, everything's going to be all right. What's the last thing you remember?

[turns to her in surprise. as if showing up in the middle of the stars in a hospital bed wasn't weird enough, now he's got a pretty girl he's never met before asking after him?] Uh...I was in hospital. Before that, I'm not sure.

[She notices the tubes not leading to anything and begins to worry. She wishes she had her medical scanner on her.] Ok, well now you're on a place called the Astral Plane. I know, it looks ridiculous and impossible. [She pauses to gaze upwards briefly, then looks back to him.] Do you know why you were in the hospital? [The first thing to determine is if he's in immediate medical danger.]

Okay... [at least it's easy to accept something like that when you think you're hallucinating]

Basically, yeah. Somebody attacked me with citroloform, and I had some sort of allergic reaction to it. And got amnesia again. Somehow. [smiles sheepishly] I'm sure that just sounded absolutely mad, but that's really all I know about it.

[She looks at him like he just might be mad for a moment, but then she shakes her head.] If I can accept that this place exists, then I can believe what you're saying too.

[She holds up the end of the tube.] Are you breathing ok? Any pain?

Exists? Maybe in my imagination...

Nope! I mean, yeah, I'm breathing. No pain. Uh...if it helps, they said they were doing precautionary stuff? I think that was their way of saying an allergy sounded mad to them, too, and they didn't really know what'd happened.

So. I'm Oliver. How 'bout you?

If it exists in your imagination, then what am I doing here?

[She lays the tube on the bed and nods, satisfied.]

Hi, Oliver, I'm Nurse Christine Chapel.

I'd say you snuck into my dream from hospital, but you're nicer than they are!

Nice to meet you, Christine. Wish it could've been under better circumstances.

Maybe they've all just had long shifts.

Are you referring to the amnesia, or this place?

Maybe. Or they might be tired of my questions.

Uh...well, both, I guess. Whatever this place is.

It's called the Astral Plane. I guess you wouldn't remember whether or not you've been here before, huh?

Well, no, but do people usually leave and come back later? I mean... [gestures at the stars] We're in space.

Yeah, we can come and go as we please. [She smiles and shrugs.] Is it though? Or does it just look that way? After all, how are we breathing or on solid ground if we're in space?

oliverplus December 4 2010, 00:27:24 UTC
How's that?

Uh...artificial atmosphere? But I see your point.

Well, if you want to leave, you just think of leaving. Think of home and there you are. And when you want to come back, you think of the Plane and then that's where you go.

[She laughs.] I really don't know. I've just accepted that this place is weird.

[raises an eyebrow] Sounds a bit convenient, doesn't it?

[smiles] Well, if you say so! So what's this place like, anyway? Besides...stars. With oxygen.
