Hello? Anyone home?

[Cordelia Chase's voice echoes through the empty shop. There is no storekeeper to greet her, no patrons in sight. Despite knowing better, Cordelia can't help herself. She lets the door swing shut behind hide her, small brass bell ringing with finality as it shuts. Like that, she finds herself on the Astral Plane.Okaaaaaay, this ( Read more... )

[Cordelia stared, first at the man before her, then at the bear, and then back to him again.]

Um... What?

[Okay she is thuroughly creeped out now. What IS this guy talking about?]

And yes, Wesley is an intellectual. Probably one of the smartest people I know.

[Not that she'd ever admit that to him...]

Enough about my friends, who are you and where the heck am I?

Cordelia Chase.

[She briefly shakes his hand, but this is a woman of business when it comes to magic, strangers, and otherworldy things. ]

You didn't answer my second question. Where am I?

[A hand goes on her hip for impatient emphasis.]

[Irene is just standing there quietly, watching you, Cordelia. Watching and judging your oddly peculiar language and behaviorism.

She sure loves your outfit, though.]

[Cordelia's eyes are roaming the plane. Nothing makes sense, and she almost feels like she's part of some tripped out fantasy. Then she sees Irene in her Victorian era glory.]

Oh no. I'm dead, aren't I?

[She pales, whiter than a sheet, which, by its very nature, should have clued her in that she wasn't dead. But this is Cordy we're talking about here.]

[Irene's eye reflect concern for only a fleeting moment before she defaults back to her constantly neutral gaze. She walks forward, skirts rustling around her, and places a gloved hand gently on Cordelia's shoulder.]

Now, no need to excite yourself, I can assure you that you aren't dead. Out of sorts, perhaps, and in a place that doesn't make much sense but you are certainly not dead.

[The bustled dress Irene wore was the least of the weird things she's seen in the last half hour but she can't help but comment.]

Yes, because I'm going to believe some lady in outer space dressed in old timey clothes that this isn't some sort of "beyond." If I'm not dead, then where am I?

[for a moment, Kate can only stare; it's been years since she's seen Cordelia, and from what she's gathered in her own Los Angeles, she won't see her any time soon, either]

Count yourself lucky, I'm pretty sure the monsters are gone.

[she's smiling, through, warm amusement a sharp contrast to the long, battered coat and the military backpack strapped to it, the pistol strapped to her leg, the swords crossed at her back]

And I have aspirin in here somewhere.

Kate? Crazy cop lady turned rogue?

[Cordelia couldn't help herself! After everything they'd seen and Kate's disappearance from the force, she was surprised to see Kate still alive. Granted it was on some strange plane, but still.]

Look you all badass with that get-up! And yes, ohmygod I would love some aspirin.

[that gets a low laugh] Pretty much, yeah.

[shrugs off the back pack, unzipping one of the smaller compartments] I have stronger stuff, but I try to save it for emergency.

[with a swift flick of her hand, barely visible, she tosses Cordelia a small bottle]

[Cordelia makes note of that, fully intending on asking for the strong stuff if a skull-cracking vision came along. For now though, aspirin does the trick.]

This place has pretty much sucked since I got here. Please tell me it gets better, because if not, I will lose my mind being trapped here.

[There's a young man walking by, wearing a kilt and carrying some sort of strange box full of buttons and levers. Or, more accurately, the remnants of the box, as it appears it's been cannibalized for something and is now missing bits and pieces. He glances over at Cordelia curiously.]

I've not seen anyone named Wesley about, but there's a wee building with some information if ye need it.

[Jamie motions with his head over in the general direction of the information kiosk.]

I'm pretty sure the monsters are gone, though. Ye should be safe enough for the moment.

[Another new face, although at least there was something familiar about this new person. His accent, it almost reminded her of a friend long since passed.]

Think it has enough information to get me home?

[Cordelia is hopeful that this guy might actually have some answers.]

I'm less concerned about monsters, those are a dime a dozen where I'm from, and more concerned with getting back to where I'm from.

Aye, well, I don't blame ye for that. Normally all ye have to do is think about going home and ye go there, but...

[He trails off, frowning down at his box for a moment. He doesn't like the idea that some strange lass has been dragged here and forced to into making choices when she doesn't know what's going on yet.] Ye might have to vote first. I don't think the brochures actually cover that, unless they've been updated recently.

[Sorry, Cordelia, but it seems Jamie may not be much help here.]

I heard about the voting, guess I'll be taking a look at the brochures. Kind of hoping they'll let me slide on that, since I just got here and all.

[Cordelia looks a little discouraged.]

Thanks for the advice though, at least I have a place to start looking for info.
