{Robespierre is on fire.

...Well, sort of. Around his neck is a purple flame, but as he's come to the Plane, it's already dying down. Around his neck quite clearly, though, is "NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM," with what looks like a burn mark and won't be fading any time soon. He's holding up the Psalm of the King which is burning with that same purple flame, but lowers it slightly, looking around at the Plane.}

I am not meant to die today? What a pleasant relief.

{He starts to wave the flame away from the Psalm, not really bothered (yet) by the change in scenery.}

Normally I approve of fire, but it smells like someone burned their six month old garbage in here, then mixed it with hospital food, dead people, and added a dash of armpit.

Yeah, I know. [He glares at the rest of the Plane and pinches his nose.] It doesn't usually reek this bad, but... geez.

{The flames fade away, and Robespierre touches his neck lightly}

Does it? I smell nothing quite as bad as you describe.

[Axel arches an eyebrow but doesn't ask.]

Let's just say I have a sensitive nose. It sucks.

I suppose that it would. Though out of curiosity, what does the Plane normally... smell like, monsieur?

[smolderingdark]

A little bit like iron, similar to blood but not quite. Darkness. Some other stuff I can't place. People smell a lot too-- it throws me off.

[le_traitre]

How unusual. And that is not of particular concern enough to be common knowledge?

[smolderingdark]

I didn't think so. The basic nature of this place is some kinda machine, right? So none of that's really helpful. Anyway, a lot of it gets thrown off by people and their own ~*lovely scents*~. [Did he just use tildes in actual speech? Yes. Yes he did.] So trying to grasp something solid is hard.

[le_traitre]

It is something for investigation another time.

{He looks around again} There are more troubling things confronting us at the present.

You think guilt has a smell?

I should hope not. It would cling to tightly to most all men.
