[Emil is studying pretty hard, or at least looking for something. He's pulling out books, thumbing through them, then setting them back on the shelves of the grand Meltokio library he's brought with him.]

Nothing's ringing any bells...

[Along the way he's ditched his scarf and girly sleeveless tunic for a black tank top. He looks strangely...

[he's just going to listen for a moment, concerned] ...Emil?

Not another one. [Emil sticks the pen back behind his ear and turns to look at the person before him. No one else responds, though, which means this guy certainly has him confused for someone else. He smiles awkwardly.]

I'm sorry. You're confusing me with what I can only assume is my cousin.

[... omg no stutter?]

I had this problem the first time I showed up here, too.

[charmandsmiles]

[frowns] You look an awful lot alike for being cousins. Sure you're not the same bloke?

[pactum]

I'm certain. I have yet to run into the girl he was traveling with a second time. I wish them both luck... I'll need some luck myself if I'm going to find my way home. [He scratches the back of his head and goes back to staring at the books.]

[pactum]

[It certainly is a nice library. Nobles with too much time on their hands and visitors from Sybak University alike take comfort in this place.

He blinks and looks over his shoulder at the interruption. Well... he's met more awkward people than Satoshi. So Emil just smiles, as warm and personable as can be, and answers the question.]

I was taking notes here. Well- not in this library, but in another one on the Astral Plane. After some very interesting meetings with some people here, I misplaced them, and I haven't been able to find them since.

Have you seen a little blue notebook anywhere?

[pactum]

[His eyes widen.] Why would someone do that? Everyone should carry around a notebook!

[Haruhi looks around the bookshelves as she approaches him]

This must be a nice place to study...

[Priorities!]

...Ah! Did you say lost time?

[pactum]

It's wonderful, but I know there's a bigger one somewhere. If I could just remember where...

[A pause, and then he looks at Haruhi. Someone just as andro as he is! Wow! Of course he isn't thinking that, BUT WE ALL KNOW THE TRUTH, LITTLE RATATOSK KNIGHT...]

Ah, yes, among other things.

Sometimes if it's been a long week, I end up taking a nap and forgetting what day it is.

[pactum]

[He laughs lightly.]

It's a little more serious than that, unfortunately.

Ohhhh, so is that what you were talking about before? Missing things... [arches an eyebrow as he puts on his glasses] Interesting place you've brought with you as well, I must say.

[pactum]

[Emil hears a familiar voice and turns around.]

Oh! Doctor! Pleased to meet you again. [... No stutter? What?] Although, I have a bit of bad news... That notebook you gave me is gone. I can't find it anywhere. I was going to return it, and update you as promised, but it looks like that isn't going to happen. I really am sorry.

[starts rubbing his chin] Did I give you one? I know I gave you a watch that can take notes. Are you thinking of that?

[pactum]

[He blinks.] Oh, you gave me that watch? Thank you, if I forgot to say it. I'm tempted to take it apart and put it back together, but I'm not sure I can get away with it.

[He scritches the back of his head.] Anyway, yes, you gave me a little blue notebook. I am fairly certain of it. I kept some good notes in there, in case what I'd forgotten came back to me, little bits at a time. And it did, as far as I know, though not completely.

... Though, the fact that we met again and I don't remember it is quite distressing.
