[ In the kitchen this little kid can be seen sitting at a table, dressed warmly with her hat lying in front of her. Her cheeks are still somewhat red from having been out on the mountainside all day and her hands are wrapped around a mug of hot cocoa to warm herself up

[he doesn't immediately notice Ai sitting at the table as he comes in, still in his uniform. only once he's procured two melon sodas does he turn around and see her, almost dropping them]

Ah, it's you!

[She breaks away from her thoughts to look up, pulling the mug away from her mouth to set it down.] Hello, Kaoru-san.

[he sets his sodas down before he really does drop them (though if he was getting the soda for Tamaki, he might've let it...)]

Hello there, Ai. Is it winter-time where you are?

I had spent the weekend at a winter lodge.

Ohhh? As part of a school trip? Family vacation?

[he grins] I've been wanting to do the same thing. Perhaps to the Alps, or Alpine Mountains... But then Haruhi wouldn't be able to come with us...

[Doesn't go to such well known locations for obvious reasons. But she's mildly-curious all the same.] Oh? Why not?

[and now he frowns, slumping a bit as he sits opposite her] Doesn't have a passport. She won't let us pay for one either.

She isn't able to afford one herself?

[shakes his head] No... She's a com--[stops himself]--I mean, her family's not very well off.

Hmm. [Sips her cocoa] Perhaps she has her reasons for not wanting a passport.

[oh, that earns you a pout, Ai!] But why wouldn't she want to leave Japan? She could see so many great things with Hikaru and me!

[Sorry, Kaoru, it was not super-effective.] Have you considered the possibility that she may not like flying?

But how would she know she doesn't like it until she actually flies? [pouts some more]
