Lesson 1

Feb 10, 2010 00:01

[ Appearing on the astral plane is a young man with an unmistakable look of curiosity about him, his head whipping to and fro as he tries to take in the mind-boggling view yet again from atop his stopped bike. ]

Wooooah...! So it wasn't just a dream after all! It's really here! It's like I stepped right into the cosmos! But... that can't be true ( Read more... )

{Laughs} Well, you are certainly quite a bit more on your way to discovering what it means than most! I cannot say that I bothered to investigate too many of the "whys" myself until my second or third time coming here! To no end, I am afraid, but as long as it presents no harm or conflict, then I cannot complain for the reprieve!

Hou, and "Plane-walking citizens" is far too formal, I would think!

Well, learning's the one thing I love to do! So when I get to a place that I don't know anything about, I've got to take in as much information as I can. Orally, if need be.

Oh! Is there a nickname around here? "Planers", maybe?

Good man! I can appreciate that initiative! But hmmm, I do not think so? I have not heard many that will associate themselves with this place more than our homes, so it is more common to just hail from your own world! Perhaps a possible name for the people here is something of note!

So most people here aren't actually from the astral plane... they're just visiting it, like I am. And, I guess, like you are!

So there aren't many real planers then, besides Meredith. That's something to keep in mind!

[ Notebook is out, and he's jotting it down ASAP. It's good to keep a written record, after all. ]

It's going to take a long time to learn everything about this place, I think.

Indeed it shall! I have been here for several months, and I still understand little of it! Ha, but it is hardly a setback! I enjoy a challenge!

Ha ha! Indeed, for what good is a quest if there is no adventure to it?! The life of study takes me far and wide; I won't be stopped so easily!

Admirable indeed! If only your type of man was more common!

{Laughs, but then claps his hands together} But no matter! Welcome, my friend, to the Astral Plane! It is a place between worlds, or perhaps beyond them all! People from so many different existences get to come walk together here. It is a grand thing!

[ This grandiose manner of speaking is rubbing off on him. He likes it. ]

Grand would seem to be an understatement! It's the kind of thing I could hardly imagine in my wildest of dreams! I can not wait to uncover it's mysteries!

Hou, if you manage it, perhaps you could become a senior officer in my army! I jest, of course, but I will admit that I had considered claiming this place in my name. I imagine it would be easy enough, but it is best to not push my luck!

Claiming this place? Well... maybe it's possible, but I don't know. I know I'm new here, but from what I can tell it looks like it's the kind of place that everyone should share, you know?

I do not mean to claim it for selfish interests, if at all. It is in my blood to conquer and rule! Hmm, I imagine that some would not even object much to the idea of Alexander the Great ruling over the place! My tales spread far after my death, after all!

Al... Alexander the Great? You don't mean... THE Alexander the Great, do you? Like... THE Alexander the Great?

The one and the only! Alexander III of Macedon, conquerer of the Persian Empire and the surrounding areas! I led armies across harsh seas and hot sands for the sake of glory that even Achilles would be envious of and Odysseus would cry out to attain!

'OH MY GOD, I'M TALKING TO ALEXANDER THE GREAT.'

It's.. it's an honor! You're a legend!

I would hope so! If not, I would have no place fighting for the Holy Grail amongst history's finest heroes!
