Come on, Marta, think. There's got to be a way to show him...

[Emil appears on the Plane a moment later. He's also pacing, and looking at a small notebook in his palm, but when he notices Marta's ( Read more... )

Aren't you two a little young for a lover's tiff?

Just saying.

[BLUSH.] L-Lover's tiff?! It's not-- I mean-- [Watch as she mentally flails and stumbles.]

You don't need to explain. I don't really care.

I--... Then why did you say anything in the first place?!

Because I'm a mean-spirited old man. Duh.

How rude! You shouldn't just hide behind labels like that, either!

[I don't think that icon/facial expression is going away anytime soon in this conversation.]

What if the label's true? Can't get my feelings hurt if I'm actually a mean-spirited cripple. Kids these days, they're too polite.

Do you have anything better to do than stand there and bother or contradict people?

What?! You care whether or not saving lives is fun?! That's horrible!

[This man is just hitting all of Marta's buttons!]

Of course I do. I'm a doctor. Taking kids' temperatures in the clinic isn't nearly as fun as getting some obscure disease "Q", or whatever. Don't get your panties in a twist.

Saving lives is still saving lives! Whether or not it's fun, it's something that you should do if you can!

Yeah, you're definitely not from the 21st century.

What, like the time period matters?

When you're a doctor, yeah, quite a bit. We've got plenty of them, so the cool, smart doctors like myself get to deal with people that are actually sick, while the interns from the college get to deal with the people that aren't, or just have the sniffles. It's a good system.

But... even if there are a lot of doctors, shouldn't you be proud of what you do?
