Um, hi, guys. This might be a sore subject, and I understand if you'd rather not answer, but... I was wondering if anyone would mind sharing what their death penalties were like. I'm trying to figure something out.

[She'll be nice and fix that filter so it's not as fail on her end. Though a filter away from a certain person usually either implies that they're trying to guard them, or go behind their back somehow. Hm.]

I've known penalties to be very varied, of both a physical nature and otherwise. Was there something you were trying to figure out specifically?

[Ah, this lady sounds... smart?]

Y-Yes. I wanted to know if it was common for memories to be taken as a penalty, and if there's ever been any risk in getting penalties removed.

[...] I've known it to happen before, though there isn't a real 'common' penalty among them. There's always a risk, but there are risks in any untried venture. As it is, I haven't known any penalty removals to fail, and it's to our benefit that we even have the option to get them taken care of.

Yes, that's the thing. I don't understand why this John person is even willing to remove them for us without some kind of compensation.

It's to further his research, and that's all he'll say on the matter.

... I see. I heard from someone else that the person with the penalty has to be kidnapped for it to be removed. So -- one of the problems I have is that in these days that they're kidnapped, John could really be doing anything to them, and it might not be obvious until later.

It was arranged that way for a reason. The other Malnosso, in the past, weren't supposed to know of it, but... somehow the secrecy was lost. Still, they're less rough if you know to go with them willingly.

All right... I still don't like it, but I'll be sure to pass that on if it comes to that. Thank you, Miss...?

I'm aware of how uncomfortable the option is. But if you want it removed, it's the only method right now. It's not as if we have the means ourselves.

Hm? Ah, my name is Raine Sage.

[Last names? What are those?]

Ah, thanks, Raine Sage. And I'm sorry if it sounded like I was blaming you. I understand that we're all kind of powerless here.

It's quite all right. [If anything, her name and possibly her voice may ping as familiar at some point for being mentioned with the guide or the school.] May I ask for your name as well?

[Sadly, Marica didn't bother with the audio in the guide. The name will probably come to her... the next time she sees it in text.]

Oh! Sorry, where are my manners? My name is Marica. Pleased to meet you.

It's nice to meet you as well, Marcia. If you find that you have other questions that may need clarifying, you're welcome to ask.
