(A poem I wrote for my lingusitics class for a presentation on prototypes in language)
Of all of the meatiest meats that you meet,
There are none quite as meaty as chicken to eat.
Cow comes in second with its wide selection:
From ground beef to steak it will fit your delect’tion.
Next slides in pig with an oink and a bam,
To give us its bacon and pork chops and ham.
Turkey lands fourth place, all stringy and dry
Followed by succulent lamb, for to die.
(If you want to count fishes, please put them right here)
Then step back and wait for the duck to appear.
In eighth place we stray from the common to not,
Like buffalo burgers and elk pies -- that lot:
Crocodiles, 'gator tails, ostrich, and squid
(Which taste nothing like chicken; I tried them, I did.)
But don't despair, epicures, we serve stranger still --
We have unicorn claws and a fresh mermaid gill;
We have dragon-smoked jerky and spiders today --
Oh no wait, please come back -- you can't go away:
We can even serve human if you care to stay.
