Nancy Pelosi today admitted that she is not qualified to serve as Speaker of the House, stating that she didn't do her job as a Congressional leader or as Speaker of the House and doesn't have the intellect or wisdom to lead.
Pelosi said she subsequently learned that other lawmakers were told several months later by the CIA about the use of waterboarding.
"I wasn't briefed, I was informed that somebody else had been briefed about it," she said.
Pelosi said under secrecy laws she was powerless to talk about or do anything to stop it, reports CBS News correspondent Bob Fuss reports.
Pelosi further insisted that she be put under oath and subjected to a "truth" commission about what she knew and when she knew it:
Pelosi renewed her call for a so-called truth commission to investigate the events in the Bush administration that led to the use of waterboarding and other harsh interrogation techniques.
No word on when she will resign in disgrace. Since others have obviously been doing her job for her for a number of years there is not expected to be any (negative) impact from her resignation.
Update: Damning
evidence that Nancy was deeply involved in intelligence affairs in 2002 at ButAsForMe blog. Hat tip: John.
