Obamanation: Fast and Furious

Mar 22, 2009 16:02

Obama is moving fast to implement his plans. That's bad news for America, of course.

The "volunteer" service program has already been voted on (and passed) by the House. There's no doubt the Senate will follow. With the lack of Republican opposition his "civilian security force" program won't be far behind.

I, for one, plan on resisting any mandatory "volunteer" service to the state. At the rate things are going it will take decades to undo the damage that Obama is inflicting on our society. Even sadder is that few Republicans are trying to stop him.

I'm not sure whether it is good news or bad news that Obama seems so inept at times. For example, his feeble attempt to appeal to Iran's pre-Islamic history demonstrates an incredible naiveté about Iranian history and culture. He may as well have invoked Xerxes.

People in Iran are not opposed to being Muslims nor are they opposed to being devout Muslims, just as people in the United States are not opposed to Christianity or being devout Christians. Obama's attempts to separate the people in Iran from their government should not rely on a history that few alive relates to.

Instead he should take a page (or teleprompter screen) from the Reagan administration playbook and simply tell the people of Iran that our beef is with the oppressive government of Iran and not with them. Not only is it as simple as that, but it allows the Iranian people to overlay their own problems with their government.
