It's why people robbed banks, too

I was talking with a woman who was waiting for her ride outside the grocery store where I was supervising a raffle sale.

The woman gradually edged into politics and exclaimed how wonderful it would be that everyone would soon have free health care.

I gently inquired how "free" health care would be acquired, especially the "who" would be paying for it.

She didn't miss a beat, stating "the rich! They've got the money all we have to do is go get it!"

I'm not surprised we're breeding a generation of socialists. After all, we just raised a generation of people who were told they didn't have to be responsible for their actions. You have to expect that they would not only pass on a lack of responsibility but also a sense of entitlement and envy toward those who still worked hard for a living.

It will take a generation or so to consume the capital that has been built up in America. I'm sure the socialists can make it appear that things are working "except for those who refuse to share" for a while. Of course once the "greedy" and "selfish" people are in prison they'll have no excuses for why their "spread the wealth" policies have simply made everyone equally poor.

At least our children's children will have a chance to overthrow the socialists once everyone sees that we were right about them all along.

I hate to think about the economic and social costs such a mistake would entail.

We'll know one way or the other in about 36 hours.
