Fire in Delaware

Not the kind of fire like you find in southern California these days, but the kind of FIRE needed to fight politically correct restrictions on free speech, as FIRE found at the University of Delaware.

What was purported to be a policy respecting diversity:
The Office of Residence Life - Diversity Initiatives and Vision 07-08
The Office of Residence Life, within its offices and its residence halls, will become a place where diversity among people is recognized, valued and demonstrated. Racism, sexism, heterosexism, ageism, ableism and other behaviors that empower some while disenfranchising others will not be tolerated.

was in reality a policy that restricted, suppressed and punished speech and thought that was deemed to be politically incorrect. The strict policy was enforced by intrusive "interviews" conducted by RAs who reported "inappropriate" thoughts and behavior to the University.
The university’s views are forced on students through a comprehensive manipulation of the residence hall environment, from mandatory training sessions to “sustainability” door decorations. Students living in the university’s eight housing complexes are required to attend training sessions, floor meetings, and one-on-one meetings with their Resident Assistants (RAs). The RAs who facilitate these meetings have received their own intensive training from the university, including a “diversity facilitation training” session at which RAs were taught, among other things, that “[a] racist is one who is both privileged and socialized on the basis of race by a white supremacist (racist) system. The term applies to all white people (i.e., people of European descent) living in the United States, regardless of class, gender, religion, culture or sexuality.”

The university suggests that at one-on-one sessions with students, RAs should ask intrusive personal questions such as “When did you discover your sexual identity?” Students who express discomfort with this type of questioning often meet with disapproval from their RAs, who write reports on these one-on-one sessions and deliver these reports to their superiors. One student identified in a write-up as an RA’s “worst” one-on-one session was a young woman who stated that she was tired of having “diversity shoved down her throat.”

Don't you love that definition of racism? Not only are whites (i.e., European Americans) the only ones who can be racist, whites must be assumed to be racist until proven otherwise. Wow.

This is what you are sending your kids to face when they leave for college. Be sure to arm them with the necessary knowledge and resourced they will need to protect their rights.

Communism isn't restricted to backwater nations...it is alive and well in the American university system.

These programs are what your tax dollars are paying for instead of real educational activities. This is what the government is doing in your name to young adults all across the nation.

If you are not involved in the school system where your kids are enrolled or will be enrolled, get involved today! Don't cede this battleground to the ideological soulmates of Ward Churchill.
