Republicans: right about race since 1854

An interesting tidbit about Martin Luther King Jr..

One that you probably never heard in government run schools or the MSM.

We should not care much whether those thus united (against slavery) were designated 'Whig,' 'Free Democrat' or something else; though we think some simple name like 'Republican' would more fitly designate those who had ( Read more... )

republicans, martin luther king jr.

I thought it was the libertarians bitching and moaning about the federal government taking away more days of capitalism?

I think I could be down with that ... I've got a poster in the "living room" part of the kitchen with a picture of her from LOTR, reading a book, with the caption "Fantasize new worlds: READ."

I just like the fact that it's a picture of Liv Tyler with the command to fantasize.

Reactions alone are worth posting that. lol

I'm actually curious as to how true that is, though.

But it sure makes me laugh.

Up until the 1960s about 90% of blacks registered and voted Republican. Losing the black vote (by allowing the Democrats to portray them as 'racist') was one of the reasons the Republican Party earned the nickname "the stupid party" in the late 1960s and 1970s.

Allowing your opponents to define you politically usually leads to election losses, as the current crop of Republicans discovered.

Isn't that the truth!

The "Southern Strategy", as defined by the Democrats, is a myth. It is a partisan political attack designed to make the Republicans appear to be racists.

The Wikipedia article, as with most Wikipedia articles about Republicans, is full of the same kind of political myths. Attempting to fix Wikipedia articles about Republicans always results in 'edit wars' where numerous liberals simply delete the truth and substitute their propaganda.

What Ken Mehlman was referring to was the the fact that after the Republicans lost the black vote they didn't try very hard to get it back.

The real "Southern Strategy" has always been used by the Democrats, as demonstrated by the facts: they have almost always run a southern white male as part of their presidential ticket in order to curry favor among the "southerners", who Democrats believe to be racist.

And why do they believe this? Because they actively fostered the racist vote for over 100 years in the south in order to maintain power there.
