The United Nations and North Korea

Oct 18, 2006 02:12

Politicians and diplomats are in high gear, claiming that something is being done about North Korea:
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush said Saturday that the U.N. Security Council had sent a "swift and tough" message to North Korea that its claimed detonation of a nuclear bomb was unacceptable to the world.

The only one trembling at the notion of yet another United Nation declaration are the environmentalists who are agog at the number of trees being destroyed every year to publish this nonsense in several languages.

Until the United States convinces China that global stability is the best scenario for its continued growth, and that the failure to reign in North Korea likely means a nuclear Japan and perhaps Taiwan and South Korea, the leadership in North Korea will continue to throw temper tantrums and demand attention from the adult nations.

Hopefully Condi is working overtime on the "what's good for global trade is good for China" argument.
