Michell Malkin has the
roundup.
The stated purpose of the memorial, as one might expect, was to memorialize those who died on 9-11 from the state of Arizona. Instead what was created is a Kafkaesque timeline that blames the United States for begetting violence with violence. (Gee, should we riot and behead people at that kind of insult?)
While mentions of foreign-born people killed after 9-11 receive prominent places in the "timeline" and references to "Middle East violence motivates attacks in US" and "foreign-born Americans afraid", there doesn't appear to be any place where the actual victims of 9-11 are listed.
The
"educational" lessons are littered with similar disgraces. The seventh grade lesson, for example, is all about "tolerance" and "respecting differences". Hey, I have a great lesson for that: how flying planeloads of innocent civilians into buildings because you are too stupid to figure out how to achieve your goals in a peaceful manner is the ultimate in intolerance! Instead, students are told to reflect on how violence in the United States was a result of intolerance:
Discuss how, as a result of the events of 9-11, some people had angry feelings about people who came from different parts of the world or dressed differently than most Americans. They were intolerant. Although our country was unified, there were people who were hurt or died because they came from a certain part of the world.
A link to native American history is given as an example of how to learn about "tolerance". Gee, would that be because native Americans are largely viewed as victims of the American government? Note, too, that the Smithsonian gives more prominence to the Spanish language version of the site!
While not as disgraceful as the "memorials" that had been planned for Ground Zero and Pennsylvania, this demonstrates that we have to be vigilant everywhere to counter the influence of those who place appeasement at any cost above the interests of our great nation. The lesson of 9-11 is not that "diversity" and "tolerance" are lacking in the United States! The lesson of 9-11 is that we must be prepared to go after those who would attack the United States because their own lack of diversity, tolerance and ability prevents them from achieving their goals through peaceful means.
