Once again a certain group of people (heck, it's the liberals) are using racism and lies to cover up their partisan agenda.
ATLANTA (
AP) - Civil rights advocates urged Congress on Monday to quickly renew provisions of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, saying the "heart and soul" of the act is under attack by Southern Republicans.
"Martin Luther King's bones must be rattling in his grave that in 2006, these Dixiecrats are being possessed by the ghosts of (the late Sens. Strom) Thurmond and (Herman) Talmadge," the Rev. Joseph Lowery said at a news conference hosted by Concerned Black Clergy.
Gee, the problem with that statement is that it brings up activities of Democrats (Dixiecrats where Democrats who split off and Thurmond and Talmadge were both Democrats at the time) and tries to use them to attack Republicans. Wow, how incredibly deceitful. Of course the MSM just plays along because it agrees with the partisan agenda of the liberals behind this smear campaign.
For those of you who think that voting rights are a concern in this day and age, wouldn't it be better to apply the law to the entire United States instead of just nine of them? Weren't liberals just complaining last election about problems in Ohio? Shouldn't the voting rights act be expaned to include any state?
That would be the logical position to take, if one were really concerned about voting rights. Liberals, however, are only concerned to the extent with which they can use the act to bully their opposition and enable fraud on the behalf of liberal candidates.
