The angry left claimed that the world would "remember" those who helped liberate Iraq at the next elections.
Let's see...President Bush won, Prime Minister Howard won, Prime Minister Berlusconi won, Prime Minister Blair won, Prime Minister Koizumi won...and now Germany's Schroeder has lost (in a very Kerry/Gore-like not-going-to-concede way), though he does have a chance of forming a new government if allies of his opponent, Angela Merkel, defect.
Spain changed horses, but that was more due to the way Prime Minister Aznar handled the train bombings than anything else. Of the major coalition partners we have four retaining power and one losing, while of the critics we have one (apparently) losing and the others "to be determined".
So it does appear that "the people" have spoken and rewarded the members of the coalition of the willing while punishing the critics of the liberation of Iraq. The current leaders of France and Russia may want to reconsider their stances on liberation in the Middle East.
