The Obama administration is
the gift that keeps on giving (America the finger)!
In their latest assault on America they've decided that there's not enough litigation going on. So, in a move designed to please trial lawyers, they've set up toll free hot lines so workers can sue their employers for free! Well not, free, exactly. You the taxpayer will end up financing most of these lawsuits, which will be run on a contingency basis (lawyers take a cut of the settlements) and businesses are expected to settle rather than battle the bottomless resources of the federal government.
In an unprecedented and controversial move, the White House has launched a new program at the Department of Labor which will refer workers who have complaints about their bosses to a toll free number at the American Bar Association, where they can get a lawyer to work on their case on a contingency fee basis.
In addition, they've also set up hot lines for people to sue banks, home builders, hotels...just about anyone who provides housing of some sort.
The White House has also enlisted the ABA to launch a toll-free hotline number at the Department of Housing and Urban Development to help homeowners with foreclosure issues, as well as a separate ABA toll free number to help veterans at the Department of Veterans Affairs, too. An ABA release notes that its new toll-free line at the Labor Dept. will help workers who may be part-time or independent contractors in the agricultural, construction, or hotel industries.
Because housing is so red-hot right now we need to dampen down the activity and redistribute the huge profits.
Aren't you happy the Obama administration "justice" department is on your side? Well, that is if you are planning on suing someone.
Everyone else better watch their wallet.
