More recently Sarah Palin's reasonable and justifiable use of "Blood Libel" to describe what happened to various right of center figures (including herself) and the Tea Party in general after the shootings in Tucson was met with anger and outrage by the left who simply could not understand why she used (or even was "allowed" to use) such a term

The problem with the Left is that their identity politics game often twists and corrupts legitimate concerns of minority groups. Also, they often fail to explain WHY certain words are a no go. Just saying "it's offensive" in an attempt to shut down debate is not enough. Before Palin used "blood libel", I doubt most people on the Right were even aware that it could result in the PC Police showing up.

I doubt most people in general were aware of implication of using "blood libel". :)

I had similar discussion in racism_101 when they claimed that for a white person to use the phrase "bury the hatchet" is racist. If you go down this road you also can't use "escape goat" or many other well established and at this point internationally and widely used phrases.

And for some reason the Left has no problems using term Holocaust to describe what is going on in Africa or even to the situation in Gaza. They have no problems when they use the "reserved" terms.

Right, when they compare people who disagree with the theory of AGW to "Holocaust deniers." Or when PETA tried to compare the daily operations of KFC to the Holocaust.

Don't go searching too far. Remember Reid and his "negro" comment?

I know, right?

It's like when Republicans campaign in the south and Democrats find the nearest civil rights violation and claim the Republicans are trying to honor/capitalize/use it. wtf? They need to look in a mirror if they want to see a party culpable for the delay of civil rights in the south.
