MSM continues to preach Big Lie about 2009 elections

Nov 05, 2009 11:37

Despite the fact that Republicans running on Republican platforms won huge victories in the 2009 elections the MSM is pointing to one race in 23rd district of New York where a RINO was forced out of the race and a third-party conservative almost won as a reason why Republicans should run more RINOs.

Excuse me?

So by the same logic since the candidates that Obama campaigned for were big losers in 2009 the Democrats should run more candidates endorsed by Republicans? In case you missed it, MSM, the RINO was completely run out of the contest before the election in the New York 23rd district contest. Now I suppose if I were a Democrat I'd love to see more candidates like that! However, as a Republican it's pretty clear to me that RINOs are not only a drag on the party, they are the reason the party fell into disfavor over the past decade.

When voters elect Republicans they expect to see fiscal discipline, strong foreign policies and a government limited by what the Constitution actually says it should do. When instead they see people spending like drunken sailors, promoting wishy-washy foreign policies, agreeing to big-government programs, etc. they figure they may as well go with the "real thing" if they prefer those kinds of policies.

Those who don't of course, will start staying home on election night, as many did in 2008.

So despite your earnest desire to portray RINOs as simply differing on abortion and gay marriage the reality of the situation is that Republican voters are tired of seeing people they vote for endorse big government, reckless federal spending, weak foreign policies, etc. Dede Scozzafava could have declared her support for abortion on one hand and held the hand of her lesbian bride with the other and (if these had been her only differences with the conservative candidate, Doug Hoffman) that would not have been the reason why Republican voters rejected her on a wholesale level. It was her support for unions, big government, reckless government spending (especially the stimulus bills) and her all but stated intent to vote with the Democrats on these issues that Republicans rejected her. Her endorsement of her Democrat "opponent" is proof that the voters were right about her true values.

And if anyone needs any more evidence of the faulty logic being promoted by the MSM on this issue we have only to look at the Democrats themselves who have run (and will continue to run) candidates who describe themselves as "conservatives" in order to win back control of Congress. And who is one of those candidates? Why, none other than Bill Owens, Democrat candidate for the 23rd district of New York:
Moreover, the actions we take will have long-term effects on our economy, and our children and grandchildren will carry the burdens we fail to address today. Bill Owens believes that for too long, the politicians in Washington have been spending blindly, letting our federal deficit spin out of control. He thinks we must now restore fiscal restraint and get our financial house in order to avoid even worse problems down the road. That's why in Congress, Owens will fight for more balanced budgets and less deficit spending to help minimize the debt future generations will face.

Bill Owens also supports an estate tax exemption for up to $5 million, a threshold that will make sure family farms and small businesses in Upstate New York are not negatively impacted. He does not support increasing taxes on small businesses or middle class families that are already struggling during these tough economic times.

And Republicans are supposed to fight this by running liberals? Hey, the party leadership may be that stupid but the voters are not.
