So, just to clear up, I didn't write this myself, it's been circulating through email and I just posted it. But it spawned some wonderful comments.

Huzzah! Plus, being gay isn't unnatural. Noone has ever provided an unequivocal argument to back that silly idea up.
Plus if gay people *don't* get married all that sex they are having will be pre-marital and therefore sinful and offensive unto god! I'm sure god would rather *married* gay people having *married* gay sex than *unmarried* gay people gaily fornicating.
PLUS I have a postcard that has one pair of plastic women and one pair of plastic boys on a wedding cake and everything on postcards is true so it must be okay.

Hmmm. I haven't encountered this particular scientific theory before. Where does it come from? What does it mean? And... what is fornicating, anyway?

The funniest thing about our government forbidding gay marriage is that the people who originally founded democracy -- the Ancient Greeks -- were pretty much the gayest people on earth. :D ( ... )

I studied the Ancient Greeks in school but I didn't like them much. They weren't as bad as the Romans, it's true, but they locked their women away in closets are weren't good to them, which is totally uncalled for. And correct me if I'm mistaken, but I gather they thought it okay to have sex with children, rather than mutual, healthy, loving relationships with other grown men. Plus the Spartans were hardcore headcases. They kept other greeks as slaves.

...I wonder if all the wives who were kept in closets turned into closet-lesbians to make up for being neglected by their husbands? Otherwise it would have been a fairly miserable existence...

Yeah, I learnt that too. Officially it was okay to go a boy when 'his beard started growing', but I'm sure that wasn't always applied to, and there's no mention of girls, or women at all really; they were terribly misogynist.

I'm sure there was lots of lesbianism, seeing as the only people women hung with were other women. :) It just wasn't recorded, because, you know, women weren't worth it.

The ancient Greeks had their good and bad points. Every society does, I think.

Hmmmm. Yes, I think that could be argued easily. It's just that some societies' bad points far outweight their good points, while other are a little more even.
