I realize I have lots of friends all over the place. Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, New York, Texas, New Orleans, Boston, Saint Mary's, Milton, etc etc. Why my group of friends is so diffused across the continent I'm not sure. But I love that I can pretty much call up most of those good friends and --though we may not have spoken for eons-- can pretty much just pick up where we left off. My world got smaller at transplant time, and it threatens to get smaller again with the H1N1 risk as I am very high risk. I may just spend the entire winter in a space suit! I know facebook is evil, but in those lonely times it has helped to make me feel connected to my friends in some semblance of a way. Today I had a lovely time in the park with "man's best friend", our dog Henry. I shared a rice crispy square with him and laughed as he turned his nose up at my coffee. On the weekend, even though thanksgiving dinners were canceled for me because there was sickness at the parents house, I still spent it with my wonderful pony, who got the apple peelings from the pie I made. Friends. Yes, it takes all kinds.
