But apparently Murphy had other plans in mind.
While I was discussing the Gas issue with my landlady I mentioned a couple of things that need to be fixed around the house - the bath heater's on/off cord was torn, and the drain in the kitchen was draining slowly.
So she said she'll send her husband to take care of these things (it's very handy to have a handy husband, it saves lots of money). He did the bath heater without a problem and even changed a switch that I didn't mention before very quickly. So far so good.
But the drain, that was another matter. The drain goes to a drain pipe that's common to me and the next door neighbor.
I don't know what he did there, but now instead of a clog on my side that caused it to drain slowly, there's a complete blockage of the common drain. Meaning that both the neighbor and I can't use our sinks.
Mine is now full of black water that rose from the drain when the neighbor unknowingly used her kitchen sink. Because of the blockage, our sinks are connected vessels. Excellent way to learn practical physics. :-(
And of course, it's the weekend. The landlord will call his plumber and have him solve this mess on Sunday. But what am I going to tell my boss when it's the third week in a row that I have urgent home issues (first the cat, then the gas, now the drain)?
I just want to have one weekend to relax, do nothing but my Japanese practices and watching TV. I'm so stressed out over this stuff. Too much to ask, aye? What's next? Fire? Earthquake?
