I guess a lot of things have happened since I last updated. I moved out of my room into a single across the hall, which is great because I no longer have to deal with Fred. Having a single is ok I suppose; I never really wanted to live in one for the exact reasons that I don't like it. As much as it's nice having privacy and my own place, and as little as I'm ever actually in my room, it is lonely. I guess loneliness beats living with a snoring African.
I got a new ipod a few weeks ago because the refurbished one I bought last year is basically bricked. Great. A brief history of my ipods:
Sophomore year of high school: 15 gig
Senior year: 60 gig video (stolen by my roommate's friend)
Freshman year of college: 60 gig refurbished photo ipod (bricked one year later)
Sophomore year: 80 gig ipod classic.
Sophomore year: 80 gig ipod classic to replace the messed up battery in mine.
My plan is to have this ipod for more than 2 and a half years, which is my current record. Well, actually, my next one will last 3 years because the one I bought, like everything else expensive that I buy, is messed up. The battery just seems to die randomly so I need to exchange it for another one. That will bring my total to 5 ipods in as many years. Great.
Thanksgiving break was as nice as it was needed. My parents knocked down a small, relatively useless wall in our dining room and made another wall into a half-wall. It really came out well; I'm glad my parents finally decided to go through with it. It makes the house look a lot more open and generally more pleasing. It was good to see Sam again, he seems to be doing really well at Pitt and is having fun there. Thanksgiving itself was cool, we had about 20 people over for a big dinner. It's always good to see the family. I went to Jeff and Wyatt's party at their apartment, the first time I'd been there since Jeff moved in. It was a lot of fun; a surprising percentage of the Inner Circle was represented. I saw Becca as well; we saw Michael Clayton which was surprisingly mediocre but didn't really matter because it was nice catching up as I hadn't seen her in a long time. She is one of the dwindling number of people from high school outside my close friends that actually listen to after asking, "How have you been?"
In other news, I'm going to be working at the movie theatre again for the three weeks I'm home during Winter Break before winter session starts. Over winterim I'm taking Spanish 107 and Intro to Criminal Justice. Exhilarating. Next semester should be a little more interesting, especially because I may try to take 19 credits. I'm taking Criminal Justice 201, Art History II, a 300 level history called England's Rise to Greatness, Sociology, Intro to Film, a 1 credit astronomy class, and an Israeli Culture class. 19 credits is a lot, unless you're my brother, but the only classes that seems like they will be remotely challenging are History and Art History. The 14 credits I took this semester were bullshit; I only have two classes for which I actually need to do work (Spanish and French Revolution). I wrote my 20 page history paper for my World War One seminar in three nights, and I think it turned out rather well. Considering my grade on the paper is my grade in the class, I sure hope it turned out ok. Today I failed my Spanish oral exam; of the 5 pictures we had to choose from to tell a story about, I picked the only one that I didn't study. Which I knew was going to happen well in advance, so I wasn't too upset.
The second disc of In Rainbows should be out any day now. I really wish I had purchased the discbox but I just don't have the money for it right now. Maybe one day. Until then I am stuck waiting for the second disk to leak. I'm looking forward to hearing what they've done with 4 Minute Warning in the studio; it was one of my favorites of the new 2006 tracks even though it seems like a lot of people hated it. Radiohead have already announced summer tour dates for Europe. Anybody want to go? I hope they announce US tour dates soon, I'm going to try and see them as many times as I possibly can.
I suppose that's it for right now.
