I thought about posting this link on CoS but decided it was probably better here. Women have more in common with chimpanzees than men I will now run away and hide.

I like his reasoning for not talking to creationists. :p

So do I - what creationists fail to understand is that they are arguing a faith position - it cannot be proved scientifically. Of course they make up pseudo scientific theories like intelligent design but their approach is fundamentally flawed. They would do far better to say that they understand the science but their faith tells them it cannot be true (i.e,. God has played an almighty game with us - laying out all the evidence of evolution so as to allow us to fool ourselves. Frankly I don't believe that's true)

It was funny learning about evolution, because you have all these crazy ideas that creationists have drummed in, and none of them are actually evolution. Creationists try to scare you away from science, and they also laugh about how scientists haven't figured everything out. They're scared of knowledge. I don't understand why we can't believe in evolution and God. It's all or nothing.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed my science class. I was scared to take it at first because I thought it would be too difficult. It was very rewarding taking that class and being able to understand everything, and then actually enjoying it too! I loved learning about plants, and right now I'm loving reading about why certain foods are good for us. It's really interesting for me to read about how our bodies break things down and use it. Who woulda thunk it. :p

I like to believe God created evolution. Who's to say it didn't take him millions of years to get it done.

While I'm an atheist, this is the religious viewpoint that makes the most sense. It doesn't deny the existence of the science or make up bizarre, mind-bending rationalizations.

I'm not sure you can relate faith and science at any level. Science is about proof - in the sense of demonstrating something and showing it to be repeatable. Faith is about something we ourselves experience. But however much faith I may have I cannot demonstrate that faith (in a scientific sense) to another person.

Newman (one of my heroes) said that apart from an interior and unreasoned conviction, there is no cogent proof of the existence of God. It comes down to having faith and whatever science may demonstrate I doubt my belief in the existence of a loving God will change.
