Okami

About a week or so ago, my computer refused to start up. Some kind of missing registry file error or something like that. Just wouldn't start up. So I put in the recovery disk that Heavenly had, trying to fix it, but somehow I erased all the data on the computer. All of it. Everything was lost. My writing, my writing notes, my images, my music library. Everything. It's just a lucky thing that I decided to print out what I had of my writing when I was in Greenville over Christmas. I think I can recover most of my notes, though I'm sure there're things online that I'll never find again. But the story itself is mostly intact, and that's what's important.

I recently discovered this video game, originally Japanese, coming to the USA some time in May this year. It's called Okami, and you play a wolf called Amaterasu, journeying through a soft and beautiful, watercolour-esque world that is atypical of any video game atmosphere I've ever seen. Beautiful graphics. For those who aren't Japanese mythology enthusiasts (probably most of you), Amaterasu is the sun goddess of Japan. The title is also a play on words; ookami (狼) means "wolf", while okami (大神), the way it is written in the title, means "great god". You also get to fight youkai and other monsters, like nue, ama no jyaku , and dragons, etc..

Here are some of my favourite images from the game:

And here is a profile for the game.

I've got a cold at the moment; have had one for the past few days as well. It's probably the worst cold I've had in a while. It's not really that bad, just a persistant sore throat and a light cough. But I usually don't even get that much when I get a cold. No biggie. It'll blow over soon enough. But it's enough to make me feel a bit under the weather.

Fables Volume 6: "Homelands" came out on the first, but I still haven't bought it because I'm waiting for my B&N order to come in. Bookstores always get second pick after comic shops, which is why it's taking so long. Hopefully I can still get it; on the Bookmaster search it's saying it's unavailable from the publisher. But there's also a new preview for Fables #45, here.
