*sigh* dear icon making community,
i've been away from lj for awhile, as some may have noticed. Lost has inspired me to want to make icons. I decided today to peek around and see what is out there right now. And icon making community--
what happened?
-Almost- every single icon maker i know has adapted a new style. a super washed out but pale-ly bright colourful thing that is going on with heavy textures. it's literally THE only style i see in half my fandoms.
not only can i not attempt this style, i don't know if i'd want to--but i know how it is with icons. if you don't make what is hot, or if you aren't an 'established name', it's hard to get people to look at your stuff twice.
either way, i'm gonna try tonight. but i just know my stuff isn't bound to measure up to the standards set out there.
