Question for other Sophie Kinsella fans

Dec 11, 2007 13:25

Has anyone who reads books by Sophie Kinsella noticed that there are two books that appear to be written by her, but they seem to have a second author in addition to Kinsella? If that isn't confusing enough, the books say " *second author's name here* as Sophie Kinsella". Anyone know what's going on here and/or why she's doing that?

You're talking about Madeleine Wickham, right? That's Sophie Kinsella's real name. She wrote those books before the Shopaholic series under her real name, so now that the name 'Sophie Kinsella' is famous, they are reprinting the books with the note on top so you know it's her.

I'm not sure if that was the best way of explaining it, but long story short: the books were written by Sophie Kinsella, and Sophie Kinsella alone.

Why did she use a different name for the Shopaholic series, though?

Good question... maybe she just liked it better? She's not the only author to do it though. Meg Cabot (the author of The Princess Diaries) wrote two different series under the name Jenny Carroll before she made the switch.

Meg Cabot said somewhere (i think on her website) that she wrote under different names cuz it was different publishers.. I could be wrong, or that could also be what Sophia Kinsella was doing.
