Whew!

After a 13-hour day yesterday, NOT including the commute time, here we are on Tuesday, back at the grindstone with funeral number 2. The third is merely (!) a mention and eulogy tomorrow morning at the regular Wednesday AM Eucharist. We're all tired.

I think everyone is now out of the office and off doing the event so I can breathe - as long as the perfumery dissipates quickly enough from the chapel visitation - it's seeping in the cracks into the office workroom...

For the first time in the 10 years I've been here, even through the death of Dorothy (my proofreader) 2 years ago (on my birthday), someone actually ASKED if I was "ok" since I happened to talk to this fellow pretty often. Huh. I WAS.....

So the (former) boss is making his last appearance here to pick up mail and drop off his cleaned-off laptop. Then he's off for the wilds of Oregon for the duration. I shall miss him... mostly in times of stress like this, when I miss his calm. I may forever hear his voice in the back of my mind saying, "don't let people's weirdness get to you, they are only trying to control what they think they can because there are other things in their lives out of control. Be calm and helpful, but don't buy in." Not bad advice, actually!

Back to trying to find the top of my desk.
