A lot of people I like have been releasing new songs lately with promises of albums, so yay!
Jamie T - remember that summer between leaving school and going to uni when I was obsessed with Jamie T? Yeah, that ws 2009, so that's how long it's been since Jamie T released anything, which is why I'm super excited to hear he'll be back with a new album soon. The teaser track,
'Don't You Find' is stunning - a slow burner of a song. Love it.
The Drums - The Drums have been away for a while too - NME says 3 years - and new track
'Magic Mountain' is a lot heavier than I would have expected from them, going on their previous albums of dreamy synthy stuff. I'm not sure I love 'Magic Mountain' on first listen, but who knows, maybe it'll be a grower.
The Enemy - I used to love The Enemy. Their first album is still one my favourite things to listen to when I get angry about not having a job or any money. Their third album didn't click with me at all, but I like their new releases
'Melody' and
'Magic'.
The Courteeners - new album 'Concrete Love' coming August 18th! First single
'Summer' is decent, and appropriately titled, it's light and catchy and summery. I have a big soft spot for The Courteeners.
Alt-J -
'Left Hand Free' is surprisingly funky (I hate the word 'funky' but just me or is this now a big trend in indie? Paolo Nutini's album was so funky). I like it. Other new single
'Hunger Of The Pines' is more what I'd expect from Alt-J and it's good too but not as interesting as Left Hand Free. Looking forward quite a lot to their album 'This Is All Yours', out on September 22nd.
