What did we think of Richard Ayoade's Buzzcock's episode?
This is the first episode of Buzzcocks I've watched in ages - as a Richard Ayoade fan, I thought I'd take the opportunity to see how Buzzcocks is doing these days.
- I'd forgotten what they'd done to the credits. Hideous.
- Richard Ayoade was pretty good, actually.
- How on earth did Caroline Flack ever get a job on TV? She's very irritating on the Xtra Factor, and came across as a complete and utter blank here.
- Noel Fielding still annoys me an unbelievable amount.
- New episodes of Buzzcocks somehow feel a lot longer than old ones, even though, on reflection, there is very little content. Is this addition of props a regular thing?
- Phill Jupitus laughing sycophantically at everything Richard Ayoade said. (A note on Phill Jupitus: I have tried for a long time to actively like him, on the basis that he is friends with Billy Bragg and they did political gigs together in the 80s. Conclusion: it turns out I can't like someone purely based on their politics. Phill Jupitus is still ridiculously un-funny to me.)
- Ed Sheeran was fairly good fun - took everything in good stride, made some jokes, etc. Deserved funnier people to bounce off. Send him to '8 Out Of 10 Cats' as a kind of Example substitute.
Remember once upon a time this was my favourite programme ever? It looks like it'll be another long while until I watch Buzzcocks again.
