I will lamp you, with a lamp.

There were some real surprises in the last ever episode of 'The Thick Of It', wasn't there?

- I sort of expected Malcolm to resign, because the end of the programme would have to coincide with the end of him, surely? His angry speech to Ollie made me want to cry ('an empty husk', 'no friends, no children, no glory...')  It's sad to see someone who's usually so in control losing a hold of his emotions.  And then, no blaze of glory, just a 'Doesn't matter'.  Poor Malcolm.  Peter Capaldi deserves some sort of award, because this was acting at a different level.

- Glenn's resignation was heart-breaking. I always see Glenn as the one good person in DoSAC, so to see him finally upping and leaving for his principles, sort of, was good in a way, but it's Glenn, and he's one of my favourites and he's leaving and broken.  But I'm glad he decided against handing himself in to the police.

- In hindsight, it's probably easy to see that Ollie was going to be the 'next Malcolm', but it sort of surprised me, but I can totally see it - he'll be like a quieter, smoother version of Malcolm, but just as poisonous.

- I thought Terri would have a big exit, instead of no real exit at all.

I miss this programme already.  I really hope there are regular specials, because I don't want to never see any of these characters again.

Also: lovely Will Smith replied to another of my tweets.  I have an extreme soft spot for both him and Phil in TTOI.
