Finally there's something decent(ish) on TV again.
'Russell Howard's Good News': S06 E01 - as ever with Good News, this was hit and miss. The first ten minutes were tough to get through. Sometimes I feel like so much of Russell Howard's act is repetitive - he could have done those exact same segments in any one of the previous series and I probably wouldn't have noticed, the only change would be different viral internet clips. But he's just so likeable, and the programme picked up quite a bit near the end (not to spoil it for you, but 'wisdom teeth girl' made me literally cry with laughter), and the mystery guest spot was pretty good, but other than that it was fairly average, but that was exactly what I expected so I wasn't disappointed.
'Would I Lie To You?': S05 E01 - at first, I wasn't sure how watered-down the programme would be, seeing as it's now going out pre-watershed at home, but I honestly couldn't tell that it had been toned down at all. WILTY is consistently funny, but it was mainly down to the regulars this week. Honestly, I thought it was a weak episode to start on. Alexander Armstrong was good, of course, but sadly didn't get to say very much. The other guests were all a bit dull - why did Alex from the One Show get to tell two stories, and the ones on David's team (Chris Tarrant and I can't remember who else) didn't get to say anything other than the 'This is my...' story? I think the whole programme could do with a fairer edit. It was still fairly good, but not my favourite episode by a long way.
And tomorrow - 'Grandma's House'! I cannot express my excitement for this.
