Mock The Week S10 E08: Carl Donnelly, Ava Vidal, Miles Jupp
i) Carl Donnelly is suddenly good-looking! Where did all that hair and those big eighties tinted shades go? Why, Mr Donnelly!
ii) Dara O Briain advocating prostate checks.
iii) The 'biscuit tin' metaphor.
iv) Hacking David Blunkett - hilariously wrong.
v) The analysis of Hugh's pin code.
vi) Ava Vidal's and CD's stand-up sections.
vii) 'Don't forget to rewind your prostitute before you bring it back!'
viii) Did Chris Addison just steal a 'Leafblower Kerfuffle' spin on 'Chainsaw Massacre' from Russell Howard?
ix) An 'are you paying too much for your car insurance' joke?
x) Insults a-plenty in 'Commercials that never made it to air'.
Wasn't this just a lovely episode? It was so silly and warm-hearted. Really enjoyed it. I like Ava Vidal - I think she's bright, her punchlines are always pretty unexpected and therefore amusing. Ditto Carl Donnelly - he's understated in the same sort of way Seann Walsh is. This series of 'Mock The Week' is my favourite in years.
Also: how good were 'Would I Lie To You' and 'QI'? Really pleased I waited for the XL version of 'QI'. Also: if Alan Davies was annoyed by last week's edit, he ought to be very pleased with this week's one: everything he said was brilliant. Jack Dee was a bit on the quiet side, and was it just me, or did anyone take a kind of smug pleasure in David Mitchell coming last for a change?
