The Stand Remake Casting

Aug 11, 2011 22:00

It was recently announced that a new adaptation of Stephen King's The Stand is in the works.  And I'm pretty excited about that, even if I'm pretty sure it's going to fall apart just like the Dark Tower adaptation did (because Universal apparently failed to realize how expensive it was going to be).

My feelings toward the original miniseries ( Read more... )

Ah, The Stand.

I actually loved the miniseries, even with the flaws and all, and of course the most of it had to do with Gary Sinise and Stu Redman, who I've always been in love with, book on TV. I don't think I loved Sinise anywhere else as much (dude, CSI:NY, urgh). (Also, just realized -- Redman vs. Pinkman. Hee.)

Pretty much big fat WORD on everything you said. I totally agree with Timothy Olyphant (especially love and agree with your The Crazies vs Justified distinction). He would simply rock. I think Holloway is a bit too pretty, but he's a great actor, so I'm sure he can make it work.

I love Ellen Page, and I wouldn't mind seeing her in anything, but her as Frannie might not quite work -- she's just so TINY, and I think physicality might factor quite a bit in Stu/Frannie.

Jonathan Banks as Glen I can sort of see, but I also see Glen to be more scholarly, professor-y, and JB as Mike has left me quite an impression, so don't know if I can see him quite as that kindly teacher (even with a spine of steel), but still.

Stark Sands as NICK ANDROS WOULD KILL ME DEAD. GOD. THOSE EYES OF HIS. And Sands has that quiet strength and startling intellect about him even when he is saying absolutely nothing, and he looks so freaking young at the same time, so basically perfect. (And yes, I can see Aaron playing Nick, too, but after your rather persuasive analysis, I vote Larry for him. ...Except yeah, singing. Hee.)

God, if this were to happen. ::sigh:: I mean, granted, I will probably watch even the most horrid adaptation of The Stand ever, just because it would be The Stand.

I know, right? What an awesome character, and Sinise helps make him so easy to latch onto.

I'm totally in love with this idea, for real. I love it as much as I love the idea of Aaron as Eddie Dean. It's just too perfect.

Hee, yes. Poor tone-deaf Aaron. *smushes him*

Totally excited for this, not even gonna lie.

BOTH IDEAS ARE TOO PERFECT. And they're impossible to unsee now, so nothing short of Aaron as Eddie Dean and Stark as Nick Andros would make me happy.

And neither is likely to happen (well, who can I write to about The Stand casting if The Dark Tower ain't gonna happen)... you know you've basicaly ruined them for me, yes? ::sobs::

Okay, at this point, I just want to see Stark Sands playing ANY substantial role anywhere, even if not Nick Andros. ...Now I have to go watch Generation Kill again or something to get myself a fix. ::slinks away::

I'm sorry! But keep hope alive...they both could still happen.

God, I know. Come back to where I can see you, Stark. I miss you.

Apparently he is going to be in this mid-season replacement cop show for next season? I know he did American Idiots and I love that he's a talented threatre actor/singer, but it's mystifying that he's not in a huge demand after Generation Kill, especially compared to how Alexander Skarsgard took off.

But I guess I know what I'd be watching this weekend. ;)

Good luck, again, on the new position and everything from Monday. I'm sure you'll rock like nobody's business. <3

Oh, awesome. I'll have to keep an eye out. I'm surprised he hasn't been more in demand, too.
