Annoying Breaking Bad Fans

Why are there so many assholes watching Breaking Bad?  I guess, judging by the number of complaints both now and at this time last season about how slow everything is going, and how the show is choosing to focus on plotlines of no interest to the audience--because of course we all just want to see Walt (and maybe Jesse) cooking and being all badass ( Read more... )

I know this is from ages ago, but my nosy ass just had to go ahead and butt in :D

I personally enjoyed "Open House" and I don't know why people disliked it so much - then again I need to rewatch it at some point as some episodes that I had one reaction to the first time around I may change my opinion on when I rewatch them (I didn't appreciate "Full Measure" until the second time around, and I really need a rewatch of "Crawl Space" because I didn't like it so much for reasons that I think may have had to do more with the fact that I was violently ill when I saw it, not to mention the fact that it had to follow up after my second favorite episode :P "Salud" is a hard act to follow!).

I also like Skyler and Marie. I wasn't a huge Skyler fan at the beginning just because, well, yes she is pretty infantilizing to Walt at times and felt she was a bit on the harsh side, but I grew to like her a lot ever since "Kafkaesque" and her involvement in the business side of Walt's... business. I love how she can kind of pull him back to Earth and point out that he's not necessarily as invincible as he thinks he is.

And the Anna Gunn weight comments were just ridiculous. The only episode I even noticed any change in was "Box Cutter" and I just figured, well, the character just had a baby not too long ago, makes sense, and then moved on. Why other people didn't, I will never know. Like there's not enough going on in this show that Anna Gunn's weight has to become the hot topic.

And I hate the Jesse haters. Every single finale except for this one, every forum person had to declare that Jesse should die. I guess this time around Jesse was Saved By the Poisoned Brock (and then I guess quite literally saved by the bell). I also recall the Jane haters, including some rather angry Jesse fangirls who seemed to want him for themselves. Hey, I'd take him too but... I liked Jane more than Andrea, personally. I felt she was a better match before everything went downhill.

Yeah, I kind of understand the change being distracting, but the weight itself made complete sense, character-wise.

Really? I didn't get the sense that there were a lot of those people until recently, and I think most of the people I saw hating on Jane were people who hated her because she dared to fuck with Walt...in other words, the same people who hate Skyler. The fangirls didn't hate her, because they wanted Jesse to be happy.

Yeah, and I mean... I don't know, it wasn't even that big a deal, lol I mean Aaron seems to have gotten a little lankier this season, too, but I didn't think it warranted forum threads :P "He's getting taller! This is very unprofessional of him!" :P

Well, back in S2 on IMDB I remember a group of girls, shortly after "Over" (that was the ep where Jane told her dad Jesse was just a boarder, right?), posting rabidly about how Jane was such a bitch and that Jesse deserved so much better than her and that Jane should die and go away, basically. I mean, yeah, Jane didn't necessarily do the right thing but jeeez she did apologize (in the cutest way ever :D). Harsh crowd lol

Well, it's IMDB, though. Everyone there is an ass, male or female.

This is true. Every season finale, half of IMDB clamors for Jesse's death, which makes me wonder why they are even still watching.

The people who want Jesse to die are generally people who really over-identify with Walt and revel in his evilness. I get why they're still watching; for them, it's still fundamentally the same show it was in season one, with Walt as the hero who keeps growing into a bigger and bigger badass. The show spends more time away from him now, which they hate, but he's also badder than ever, which they love, plus they've had Gus to enjoy this season, as well.

I agree... They also don't seem to get that Jesse is where a large part of Walt's humanity still rests. They just chalk it up as "Oh, why doesn't he just kill Jesse? Jesse always messes everything up, Walt should just let him die" - I guess partially wanting that last thread cut, but then where is Walt's human side at all? I mean, Jesse is almost more his family than his actual family is in a lot of ways.

Oh yes - well, and I've even seen the extreme of people out-and-out saying they'd rather see Gus kill Walt and take over the show. Did I love watching Gus? Yes, yes I did, but Gus is an evil guy. He's sympathetic, yes, but I can't root for him against Walt (against the cartel on the other hand - good job Gus). I think Gus & Walt do share a lot of the same attributes and failings (both family men, both have serious pride issues, both overestimate themselves), so I could definitely see Walt *becoming* Gus but I don't know if he's there yet, and I'm glad... because I still like Walt, despite my serious misgivings about some things that he's done (the worst of which, I feel, was Gale's murder).
