"To one persuading a Lady to Marriage" by Katherine Phillips.

First Read: 2005.

Notes: Metaphisical poetry, which means is complicated and, in this case, pretty. The teacher, Gemma, thought that since the "narrator" thought the suitor should be in love with the lady it was because the author herself/narrator, a woman, was. I understood it as the author talking about herself in third person. The author’s gender is relevant because she was one of the first great female poets since Sapho.

+feminism, *author: female, book-2005, 2005, +gender, literatura inglesa/english literature, #poem(a)
