"Loving Potions" by Taratoy.
First read: 11-06-2006.
Second read: 26-11-2007.
Notes: Draco tries to dose Harry with a love potion(for political reasons), Snape won't allow such a thing to happen in his classroom, but his interference goes less perfectly than desired and Harry ends up infatuated with him instead.
I loved this the first time around, even though I read it very late on the game, long after it had gone AU. But now... Snape infodumps an awful lot, and his relationship with Harry is more that of a mentor/student, even in bed, than that of two equals, but at the same time he tries to guide Harry towards adulthood. All in all, very weird to add a strong sexual element to that. Also, Harry seems to grow up the months after the incident while he plans how to get rid of Voldemort but then regresses back to a child (we're assured he has acquired Snape's sharp wit during this period but later he regrets not having the very same thing). Another very strange thing is how Snape tells Harry their first time is going to be painful and awkward and they better get it out of the way! One would assume he's talking about actual anal sex but this is not what follows, Harry doesn't seem to find the first hand-job painful at all, although he seems to like the second better, as if to confirm what he's been told. Then Snape orders him around and subsequently praises him for obeying as if he had done something of his own will. I cannot, for the life of me, understand how I could have liked this so well the first time around. I didn't actually read more than 30 pages this time around, the sentence "He lapped at the lovely nose" in the middle of a sex scene was just the thing to put me off for good, although probably not the worse in the fic. Well...that's another classic down the drains.
