"Ave de Paso" by Catherine Asaro . [scifi, short-story] . [N6]

A very strange story about a girl and her cousin going back to Mexico to mourn her mother, who died in California. They encounter some kind of spirit. There were random bits of Spanish in it, which I found odd, since the character claims that is not indeed, her native tongue.
Other than that, I read Catherine Asaron's wikipedia and she seems to rock like crazy.
