“A Wizard of Earthsea” by Ursula K. Le Guin . [Earthsea, book I]

The beginning was sort of interesting but then it just devolved into the typical quest narrative, which I knew I wouldn’t like years ago. There’s some really interesting bits of world-building, like the water-workers who use magic for everyday things like navigation and changing water and winds to suit their purposes (It bet his is where Astolat got the idea for the magic in the gorgeous “Duende”, which is a story in which magic is used awesomely and commonly both). Need to find out if the other five are required reading for class.
