Comments: Mostly a genfic, although, especially in the second fic, the John-Rodney relationship is essential. A fascinating combination of angst and hope. On one mission Rodney has to stay in Atlantis, when John's captured and suffers the unnameable at the hands of his captors, he can't help but blame himself. John, on the other hand, needs to recover from the experience, that's what the first story it's about, John's sessions with Kate in the early mornings. The second story follows that one chronologically and the way Rodney needs to accept he can't control everything, not John's recovery, not his future safety, again with Kate's help. In the middle of all this John realises what Rodney feels for him.
-*- This is years ago, those first few months on Atlantis when two square pegs realized they had left the context of round holes--there's no way to be weird if nothing is normal, and so Rodney and John poured calcium oxide on Pegasus Nalgene and called it a day.
