Comments(pretty spoilery): What can I say? One of my favourite authors and she delivers this incredibly hard to read (even though is quite short) piece? At moments simply boring with its landscapy descriptions, then exciting but fucked up with an incest that is never a great deal and never quite mutual. And then you add a character who is obviously not quite human and who is irresistably attractive to both the the main character and his mother. There's no conclusion to all the parts and characters that are promising enough to keep you reading, they are never complete, just a sketch of people (and not a nice sketch at that). The only interesting thing that this book gave me was an insight on Duncker's thematic progression: first homosexuality and madness, then crossdressing and double homosexuality(females who are aware the cross-dresser is a woman and males who are not), and now double-incest and the supernatural.
Desire is what draws us beyond ourselves and our safe, dull lives. Our desires make us greater than we really are.
