Comments: So… it had a great beginning and although there were a few clumsy missteps sometimes (some voices sounded weird, for example. That’s the thing when you write first person POV, it’s a double-edged sword). But it was, all around, a lovely YA, predictable, yes, but also deeply uplifting and trying to say something real about very complex matters. I liked how it finishes not with a happy ending but with a hopeful ending. This story makes sense, resonates with me, in a way that made me laugh and cry. So, not perfect, but pretty damn good.
♥ It's true, even though it never happened. That's what I love about writing. Once you get the words down on paper, in print, they start to make sense. It's like you don't know what you think until it dribbles down from your brain down your arm and into your hand and out through your fingers and shows up on the computer screen, and you read it and realize: that's really true; I believe that.
♥ "Please, you aren't going to argue about that? You won't even decide if you're gay or not. You don't want any information attached to you; you don't want to give away any clues."
♥ Her hand felt like the part of me I was missing.
