Views of a University

I went and saw the university where I'll be spending the greater part of this school year, and I think I might be falling in love. Seriously, it's everything I could ask for -- but then again, so is most of this country!

Some of the student housing, as seen from the other side of Regent's Canal, which provides the eastern border of the university.

A shot of Regent's Canal from the western side of the canal.

The path along Regent's Canal, facing southward.

France House, which is not where I'm living, but is beautiful. My sister calls it "the Tiffany Building" because it's got a rather Tiffany-ish hue to it. It also hosts a great little cafe, which is about a minute's walk from my dorm building. Can we say "heck yes"?

The front side of my home-to-be, Pooley House...

...and the back side. Pooley House is the furthest dorm from the main path, but it's part of the new student housing complex and it's literally two minutes from 90% of the places I'll ever want to go. It's less than 10 minutes from the nearest tube station. And the campus itself is very small (because compared to an American university like Berkeley, Queen Mary has very few students).

Gah. I am so happy about going. Of course, currently they're renovating the Humanities building, and it doesn't look like the renovation will be done any time soon...but that's classes. As much as I'm interested in classes, I'm really excited to get to (finally?) live in a dorm environment -- to get a new start all over again. I just can't wait...
